Play Therapy is a well established discipline based upon a number of pyschological theories, it is a method of helping children with emotional and behavioural problems to help themselves. Play is the child's natural medium of self expression and is essential for development. A safe, confidential and caring environment is created which allows the child to play with as few limits as possible. The child experiences someone being there just for them, something so precious amongst the chaos of modern life.

I call children's sessions 'Special Time' or 'A Space to Be'. This time is non judgemental, non directive and non interpretative. I accept the child as is, following the child's lead, establishing a feeling of permission and giving the child the responsiblity to make choices and the chance to explore. My task is to build a trusting relationship with the child and to interact with them in their play, while containing and holding their feelings in order to enable them to make sense of their world.
