I am a flexible, compassionate, hardworking graduate and I have a natural affinity with children. My approach is both professional and human.
I have over 20 years experience of working with children in a range of paid and voluntary roles. These have included babysitter, contact supervisor, play worker, nanny, play leader, mother's help, first aider, group leader, behaviour support worker, agency worker, teacher and foster carer.
I have trained as a Play Therapist with PTUK, the largest UK based Play Therapy training organisation. The course was very thorough, including 200 hours of practical work, and has given me a sound theoretical knowledge base, including teaching about child development and attachment. Large elements ofthe course were experiential, meaning that I learnt through my own emotional development and have experienced the activities I have on offer to the children I see.
My first degree is from Cambridge University, and I have just completed my Diploma in Play Therapy with Canterbury Christchurch University. This Diploma is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and confers the title 'Certified Play Therapist'.
