Louise Pye - Play Therapy.
Play Therapy provides a confidential safe place for a child to use the medium of play
to help them work through things that are bothering them, and to make sense of and understand their life experiences.
It aims to enable children to acknowledge their feelings in a constructive way and give them strategies
for coping with the difficulties they face. Play allows children to communicate at their own level without
feeling judged or threatened. There is no right or wrong.
Play -
- is essential for children to develop physically, emotionally and socially.
- fosters imagination and creativity.
- encourages confidence and concentration.
- helps children to make friends and learn about their ever expanding world.
- allows children to learn from mistakes safely.
- can be used to establish a relationship.
- therapy can be used when 'talking therapy' doesn't work.
